Our trips use both self-bailing oar and paddle rafts, a combination we call a "hybrid trip". Frequently we take one or more inflatable kayaks as well.

An average trip size is 14-18 passengers plus a crew of 6-8. Every night we camp under the stars at the river's edge. Every one of our trips offers the opportunity to hike the endlessly varied and beautiful side canyons. We supply all food and most of the equipment you need for the trip.

We offer several standard trip options. You may choose between a two week trip (the Full Canyon) or a partial trip of either 7 days (the Upper Canyon) or 9 days (the Lower Canyon). The choices are constrained by river logistics, Park Service regulations, and our belief that more time in the canyon is better than less. Canyon Explorations' trips cover the same river miles as other operators but provide time to really enjoy the canyon. Our trips allow a more flexible river itinerary -- extra time can be spent hiking, learning about the canyon, or soaking up tranquility at a special place.
