Even though it never rains in the Canyon, thundershowers can fill side canyons.
And even though the the Colorado has been
throttled at Glen Canyon Dam, these side canyons (especially Paria
Creek and the Little Colorado) can send large muddy floods that give a
hint of what the Colorado must once have
been.
