I agree. Unfortunately, the article tended to equate the Commerce Committee's action
with the pure pork of the Abraham bill.
It missed completely the implications for international law and civil liberties when
a putatively private company is delegated by the executive branch (or at the very least
actively encouraged) to exercise legislative and judicial functions.
