[IDNO-DISCUSS] Mascott madness...

Ladies, Gentlemen, and fellow Cyberspace Association members,

I feel it neccessary to interupt here, as another member to whom the
finer arts has always eluded, and suggest that although there is
certainly anxiousness and pride buzzing in the air with the success of
our initial membership election, we should step back and hold on for one
moment with regards to the selection of a mascott/logo.

My concern is not so much that any brash selection would have an
improper or misunderstood connotation, but rather the excitement with
which we rush may leave some wanting artist member singed in the
feelings department. I see many volunteers for this project, and do not
have to see their original drafts to know that there will be many fine
characatures and nature like renderings of this "KIWI", that seems to be
okay with everyone (Sorry, but I'm going to the bookstore so I don't
look like a fool by asking why we're using a fruit for a mascott - I
didn't know that a Kiwi was also an animal).

Okay, now that I have everyone's attention, I'd like to propose that we
take an undetermined amount of days and officially call for the
submittal of the Kiwi we will eventually associate ourselves with
(Please don't pick the fruit). So many people are rushing to produce
something for the rest of us to admire and art is such a personally
affecting encounter with one's creativity, and the desire to share one's
creativeness is so great form some that I would be remiss in my
obligation to speak up if I did not point out that someone's artwork
that is not chosen might feel chided if a formal submittal and selection
process is not at least considered.

Furthermore, we have a voting booth that seems to work well, and once
everyone has an opportunity to review the submitions we could go to the
polls - think of it as a state flag or if you will a halberd upon which
a Roman legion carries it's signature of auteurship to it's various
campaigns.

Just thought I should suggest this so no one's feelings get hurt later.
