[IDNO-DISCUSS] IDNO Website - suggested format

Further to Sri's (long :^) ) email on his vision for the site, I'd like to
put my 3 cents worth into the mix.

Sri suggested developing the site into a portal, but I don't really thing
we have the time or resources to do that and I think the site should
concentrate on putting IDNO's case to the people and making it as
trouble-free as possible for people to join the movement.

There are many sites out there already that handle DNS disputes, etc, so I
feel we'd be better off providing reciprocal links in those and other cases.

Here's my suggested road map. I think the most important thing to do is
make the main and joining pages small and on-target. They're the ones that
will get the most hits.

******

main page - Why IDNO exists
- What we are trying to do
- How you can help
- join
- recruit new members
- translate these pages

On the LHS of the main page (and all others) are the following buttons
(text links) (I've put comments about what I think should be on some of the
pages)

********
- Main

- Join Up (small efficient form, including link to mail list joining page)

- IDNO Charter

- On-line Voting

- Structure/Officers (diagram of IDNO structure and list of Officers with
links to their - preferably off-site - info pages.)

********

- Mailing Lists - Joining
- Rules

- List Archives

********

- IDNO History (Singapore/Berlin and forward, including detailed info on
events)

- Founders

- Members (Do we really want/need to have a list of all members on-line?
Are there any privacy concerns that need to be addressed in the joining
page?)

- Funding (declaration of funding sources)

- Pre IDNO (DADNO history, etc)

********

- ICANN Structure (Structure of ICANN - DNSO, NC, GA, WG's, plus the gap in
the constituencies where we're supposed to be)

********

IDNO supporters (List of entities that have provided support for our cause,
with links)

- Links (other useful, relevant links)

- Media Releases (archive of all IDNO originated media releases)

- IDNO in the Media (Links to all media pages that mention IDNO)

- Media Enquires (Contact details for journalists and a form for them to be
added to Media Release mailing list)

- IDNO in the Industry (snippets of comments made about IDNO in other
mailing lists by prominent people - both supportive and not)

- Promote IDNO! - (HTML code snippets for banners, hints on how to promote
IDNO)

*********

So there we go. Any comments/suggestions. If you think it's a crap idea,
tell me. I won't go crying to mummy.

I, for one, am keen to start a recruitment drive as soon as the membership
committee is elected. I'd prefer that the website was in full readiness to
the ensuing slashdot effect. :^)

As mentioned by Sri, we also need to resolve membership fee issues, and
arrange for a US based bank a/c and credit card merchant a/c, or some other
way to obtain payments without paying massive commissions to a third party.

Would the membership committee have the power to arrange for the
incorporation of the IDNO in a US State, as a not-for-profit?

Finally, I propose that we have three mailing lists:

IDNO-Discuss

IDNO-Announce - for announcement of relevant matters, all IDNO media
releases CC'd to here as well.

IDNO-Voting - a member-only list that announces the start of any voting and
the final results. Mandatory for all members.

Right. that's enough bleating for now.

Happy Independence Day for the 4th for all of the members in the U.S. of A.

Cheers,
