Run through Hermit Rapid
 |
The first picture is a little hard to understand at first look. We are in
the trough of wave, and the next wave is ahead.

 |
This picture was snapped while we were at the top of a wave. The
river looks small because we are so high in the air.
|
Big waves can change very quickly. Once, on another trip, we
crested a giant wave, and it just disappeared from underneath us.
It was impossible to be sure, but all three people on board thought
we were airborn for a brief moment -- an 18 foot raft with a ton of
gear.
