Run through Hermit Rapid

The first picture is a little hard to understand at first look. We are in the trough of wave, and the next wave is ahead.
This picture was snapped while we were at the top of a wave. The river looks small because we are so high in the air.

Big waves can change very quickly. Once, on another trip, we crested a giant wave, and it just disappeared from underneath us. It was impossible to be sure, but all three people on board thought we were airborn for a brief moment -- an 18 foot raft with a ton of gear.
