Judy's story about the Hualapai ranger fits with my experience. In 1992 we
shuttled our own cars to Peach Springs where we left them with the Hualapai to
store them and bring them down to the Diamond take out at the appointed hour
and day. When we got to the take out there were a few Hualapai around who knew
nothing about our cars. We had a good time visiting with these fellows. They
shared some cold drinks with us and offered us a ride up to Peach Springs in
the back of their two ton truck. (They were tribal employees) They speed that
they took the Diamond Creek road made me maybe glad that no one had brought my
outfit down to me. There was no one at the tribal compound when we got there
and we had to hike all over town to find someone who would unlock the yard and
get our cars out. We were not given a refund on our shuttle fee. Lesson? Don't
deal with the Hualapai if you can help it. Or at least be warned that this may
happen to you too. We have taken out at Diamond on other trips but we have
hired a shuttle from Donnie Dove. Personally I prefer the float out to Pierce.
It is very pleasant. That is unless you have got your belly full already of
Grand Canyon views.

I gotta go...... Joe the Potter
