Questions:
1) Should 1 letter characters be allowed as SLDs?

My feeling is that we should only consider technical reasons for
disallowing 1 letter SLDs. The fact that they will be in demand isn't
enough to differentiate them from other in-demand domains (i.e.,
software.store/shop).

Two letter SLDs should be allowed. I've used short domain names for two
companies in the past and people like them, particularly if the full
company name is not available.
I could see having restrictions on country codes if there was some evidence
that the current policy of allowing them was causing confusion. We don't
have any evidence that it is, though, so at this point giving a country
priority is unwarranted.
And third and higher level domains can have country codes right now, and
there's no confusion. There's no way we can control that, even if we tried.

I don't think we should put any constraints at all on SLD names. CORE
should stick to SLDs. We can always add more gTLDs if needed.
