Unless I'm _completely_ out to lunch, the root of the RFC's is at ISI.EDU.=20
We've gotten into the habit of using NSI's servers because NSI has more
bandwidth and NSI makes money off the 'net, so it makes more sense to
soak NSI than Jon Postel :-) But they are still available from ISI and a f=
ew
mirror servers as well. It also seems to me that some GLTD minion
--whether it be CORE or the Registrars-- will end up serving these pages
as well.

Hell, at this point, I'm thinking seriously of doing it myself. I already=20=
have
the RFC's stored locally. It would not take much for me to port them to my
public fileserver. The only drawback is that you'd have to put up with my
banners, since there's no good economic reason for me to take that kind
of hit to make RFC's available to the world.

Sincerely,
Kevin J. Connolly

Subject: InterNIC RFC Database

The FTP server at ds.internic.net announces:

Please be advised that as of March 31, 1998 InterNIC will be
discontinuing service. If services are provided somewhere else,
we will provide pointers.

Will there be another official database for the RFC and Internet-Draft
documents?

Thanks,
