Zisa is one of the neighborhoods of Palermo (Italy) the city of my birth and the source
of most of my inspiration.
The centerpiece of the neighborhood is the
Castle of Zisa near the
shadow of which I grew.
I have been painting pictures for many years, with the name Zisa, paying a tribute
to that place. Initially I didn't know I was doing it, but all my work had the tendency to evoke distance,
space beyond reach. I was painting my inner story of someone who has left his home country
and for some reason, simple or complex, reflecting a strength or an inner personal weakness, cannot return.
Tried ... can't do it ... so I paint.
