Contrary to what you may have heard, it never rains in the Grand Canyon. The rocks retain so much heat from the sun that all precipitation evaporates before it reaches the bottom.
So you will never hear the hiss of rain hitting the river, and never see red rivulets cascading down the cliffs. And you will never sit huddled in dripping raingear, high up on a talus slope, looking across the Canyon as clouds and mist sneak through the spires and columns.
