Joop (and all)

(on behalf of all) Welcome Back ! Hope you are feeling well !! We all missed
you !!!

I am reeling a bit under work at my job..pls bear with my delayed responses
for a while as I dig myself out..

I agree with what Andy said, it should be what - the heart of our
association should be about - what you suggest, Andy, adds a lot of depth.
Maybe calling it a portal was not that good an idea on my part.

My thoughts :-

One thing I feel is ..we need to think a bit out of box - compared to other
constituencies.

Our members are most likely going to be ones with all kinds of different
feathers.

I am assuming most new members, initially, will be relatively silent or
disillutioned IDNOs that will knock on our doors when they are effected in
there lifes.

What I propose in addition to our evolv(ing)ed common point of making sure -
the website has what (prospective) members might be looking for in a clear
concise manner. - is adding additional value to meet, harnessing and
channeling our individual strengths for our common good of all IDNOs in a
broader sense as well.

So that, as the word (and good deeds) spreads - we will be a good look up,
join and vote spot for one and all of IDNOs and prospective IDNOs.

Sort of focal point of the movement (on lines of the open source movememt)

Modulating myself (thanks for tempering me to reality - Joop, Andy and
others !) - here is what I put forward to further consideration.

1. Like you suggest, Joop, we should start reworking the site on Andy's
guidelines.

2. A weekly update list is a must - to avoid putting people off the discuss
list completely with more emails than many may like. It will also let our
more active members take a brief break now and then without loosing sleep
over keeping up.

3. The site and as a organisation we should evolve into some kind of
framework - so we remain as the focal point of the movement fighting for
rights of IDNOs - while accomidating, harnessing and encouraging all efforts
for the general good of IDNOs.

Similar what you said Joop,

>The portal we can safely leave to someone else-- as long as we are
>prominently linked out of it.

twisting it a bit ...what I am trying to say in this point is that

a. our site should be the prime one linking to other sites of use to IDNOs
(and extended benefit of our movement).

b. Moving away from portal idea to sort of becoming the eye of storm (like
the Linux movement) - using same methods - varied lists, sites, etc. rag tag
volunteer army that will roll on.

4. Keeping with the inspiration maybe (if agreed) we can come up with a
lovable lively logo (like the Penguin) for our movement ? (do i hear a Kiwi
as it started off in NZ ?)

Thoughts ?

Sri

ps: Mark thanks for volunteering.
