Re: [IDNO-DISCUSS] One more nomination

Joop, Dennis, and all...

I guess I know why I take contracts so far from home at times. When I looked
through my mail this morning I found this in my box. I shivered with elation
and thought to myself, "Am I really up to this?" As the day wore on my thoughts
were procupied with a sense of recognition at times, but then I would say to
myself, "A lot of folks are going to count on you if this happens. No more
dissertations off the top of your head. Use words like Lincoln instead of
Lennon, etc.."

Irony is a powerful thing it is. A whole day had gone by as if it never occured
and then suddenly, before I jumped in my car to make an 80 mile drive home to my
three year old daughter (I've been a single parent since my daughter's birth)
something told me to, "Check your 6bone box, Bradley." I knew it was coming
soon, but the coincidence that these two messages would come on the same day was
almost comical. Here's what that message said:

Just a minute ago, IANA announced they've done the delegation of
blocks of IPv6 addresses to the registries.

This is a major step forward.

- Alain.

This notion that there is a reason for everything. And the uncertainty of it all
- especially if we do nothing about it. Now I shivered with dumbfoundedness. And
I thought to myself, "Well, I wonder how much their going to try and charge for
these?!" Then, instead of taking the Toll Road back home from San Clemente,
I drove an even longer route along the ocean that has never failed to inspire me
when I needed it the most.

It is with no reluctance, and I consider it a great honor, to humbly and ever so
gratiously accept my nomination for the candidacy of the first IDNO Steering
Committee. And if elected to sit on that committee, let this stand as not only
my official candidate's statement, but also my solemn pledge to serve in the
spirit with which the Individual Domain Name Owners was manifest.

Fair winds and following seas.
