Dear Mothy
I own a Aire Couger, a 17 1/2 ' cataraft, and have done the Grand twice in
it. On our first trip, we had 4 other smaller cats, including a panther, and
an ocelot. The main problem with cats is if they are loaded really light
they have a tendency to flip just as any other lightly loaded boat. My
experience is to load the weight in the front of the boat, that helps to
punch thru the big stuff, and run the oar locks in the center giving you
better spin capability. Sometimes spinning your nose into a really big wave
and then pushing thru it will really make the difference. On the other hand
my cat is very forgiving of stupid unintened manuvers, and has pulled me thru
many times. Have fun and don't worry, cats are GREAT!
