Yo bruce, too bad you guys didn't know about this one: there's a route around
the side; if you go up the beach and scramble up the rocks about, what,
30-40' high, you can walk in above the deep pool to a point where the canyon
tapers: there you will find a bolt in the wall to which you can fix a runner
and then use a throw-rope to lower yourselves down. It's not necessary to
rappel or anything; as a matter of fact, the first time I was up there, I
slid down the wall to the top of the slide above the pool (almost broke my
ankle, so a rope is a good thing). Then just toss down the rope to people in
the pool and let them pull themselves up. Going out, last guy goes up the
wall to get the runner, then downclimbs the way he/she came up. Not hard
atall.
I'll be putting in August 3rd, and I'm looking forward to Silver Grotto!
Better luck next time! By the way, did you get into Olo?
