As a past and future commercial customer (though not ruling out
becoming a private boater), I guess I have to defend myself.

How would you make it harder? Do you know what we have to put
up with already? Take a look at the conditions suffered by
passengers of Western River Expeditions (see the website at
http://www.adventuresports.com/asap/wwraft/western/faq.htm):

"Tents and cots are kept separately and are available to guests
each night. Tents are easy to put up, and guides are always
available for extra help."

Do you expect us to put up our own tents all by ourselves?
Sleep on the ground? Sheesh.
