It was with great interest I read Bill Langers response ( RE: Red Tape ) I
for one have never taken a private Trip, although over the last 20 years I
have done 12 Commercial both as an employee of an outfitter and as a paying
customer . I am not Fat ( 7.5% Body fat ) and I do enjoy a cold beer as well
as the next guy.
I do agree that one gets out of a trip what they put into it, I work my ass
off, day in and day out so that I can , if I chose , pay a commercial
outfitter to take me on a trip that I would otherwise not have an opportunity
to enjoy. For Bill to infer that I as a paying custermer put less into a
trip than he does says to me he has spent to many days in the summer heat.
Remember it was more than likely one of those Fat So and So's that worked
with both brain and brawn to allow you to utilize the technology and
availablity of this electronic media we are now enjoying ( I have to wonder
if Bill's electricity Comes from Glen Canyon Dam ! )
I think we should all learn From Richards earlier post, where he said "
Freedom of Choice is a very powerfull issue " Motor boats have been a part
of the Canyon longer than most of us have been in existance, and another
overwhelming theme at the SLC CRMP was that nothing is broke don't try to fix
it. While I believe the System is not broken I do believe that we can improve
it, as improvement and fixing it are two different things.
Name calling, be it by the privatiers or by the commercial outfittings is
not going to help the problem, but it will further devide an allready
estranged group. Thank God that this was not the attitude adopted by those
attending the CRMP in SLC and that good honest ideas came to the table and
will hopefully be implemented by the NSP when the plan is complete..... I
shall now remove myself from the soap box ........
