Re: PAB Election SNAFU

Kent,

I know at least three people personally who unsubscribed from the list
after having been subscribed. They all said that they couldn't handle the
mail volume.

My feeling is that (1) we should have a digest option for the list (2) we
should have other options, such as threaded, web-based message groups as
Peter Mott suggest, and (3) that those who do unsubscribe are given clear
instructions on how to resubscribe.

This last has never been done. I wouldn't know how to resubscribe if I
were unsubscribed. Perhaps some of you recall Alan Sullivan's very long
saga trying to get subscribed to the list.

It's one thing to say that people who don't want to participate shouldn't
get to vote, and that's certainly an arguable proposition.

It's quite another to shut out people who may want to participate, but
can't figure out how to do so. I'm afraid that this might be the case now,
and I'm afraid that if it is, it might be used at a later date to call into
question the legitimacy of the elections.

That is my only concern.
