3 atempt to get this mail true :-) to the list
---------------------------------------------------

hi pab-(hier the mail again sory if you got it twice-this time a aditional
link to the text transcript of the clintons speech where he has emention
some time internet)

as many of you have seen the state of the union adress of president
clinton and if not hier a short my vuew on it

first hier a quote from

http://www.news.com/News/Item/0,4,18539,00.html

                  Net sites host Clinton speech
                  By Courtney Macavinta
                  January 27, 1998, 7:35 p.m. PT

When discussing education, the Internet came up as
usual. He said the nation should take steps to ensure
that "every child can stretch a hand across a keyboard
and reach every book ever written, every painting ever
                  painted, every symphony ever composed."

Clinton also stated that "the information age is first
and foremost an education age." Before closing, Clinton
asked Congress to support the building of the Next
Generation Internet, and said that parents must be
given technological tools to bar their children's access
to inappropriate material on the Net.

and hier my impression

the american government at least its president sees the internet as
education-hier he speacks about as quoted beeing able to "reach every book
painting symphony etc"-we are not interested only in whats was writen but
in what will be writen:-) child safety and electronic commerce matter

and the next generation internet and internet 2 are those things more
interesting to them

so there is no big vision-at least at this union speech about present
internet so on one side it is interesting to see this "noninterest"
in internet and on other side the "competence" to guid the internet
development as expressed by some of the whitehouse officers

but clinton hase not made the impression that he hase big interest to
"govern" the present internet-in the next generation internet it may
be the case but the global present internet there is no atempt-at least
officialy to govern it

so i am wonder where mr.magaziner gets his "competence" to "roul"
the international internet ? becouse his president takes another aproach

we should definitely loby the vice president al gore on this matters
who is the person behind the clinton information society activities

is there any "direct" contact to mr.gore or his closed assistants ?

thank you for listening and of course this are mine impressions and
posible not right

sascha
