1. Longest-standing registry? You date back to the mid-80's or earlier?
This is news!

Please review the record from a month or two ago. The on-line responses
about the process of creating the ORSC proposal showed clearly that the
process was most definitely NOT open. It was particularly closed. Far
more so than any of the efforts the ORSC criticizes.

On the contrary, IOD did NOT wait. It joined the rogue DNS root effort,
and thereby separated itself from the IANA-derived root. Later efforts by
IOD are notable as being in response to the failure of that rogue effort.
