Sorry for the long string, folks.
I agree with Ben. It seems to favor those folks who don't
have to schedule vacations or time away from business and
family. I have friends who make the trip almost every year
on cancellations while the rest of us age a decade waiting
for our shot. I tried the cancellation route last year, but
gave up after a many dollars worth of calls netted one
notice of cancellation which was three weeks out-much too
soon for me to get it together and remain employed. Let's
work to get a more fair distribution of those cancellations
and maybe we can work through the list quicker and more
equitably.

Here's something I posted on this subject to the river
access list:

Because those waiting for launches are waiting for the
opportunity to lead or set up their own trip, I think
we should not allow repeat trips to take away
opportunities from folks on the list. Thus, instead of
the current first-come-first served system for filling
cancellations, I suggest a 2-business-day auction based
on your position on the list.
