In response to Jazzerr@aol.com (don't know his name), responding to my
letter, a couple of things: I not only haven't been out in the desert sun
too much, I haven't been out in the desert sun enough! Also, my electricity
comes from Ross High Dam in the North Cascades, not Glen Canyon Dam. Works
the same, though.
Okay, different strokes for different folks..... I can't imagine,
Jazzer, that anyone would willingly get on a baloney boat for a six- or
eight-day trip without a gun to his or her head, but that's just me. And
you're right, cooperation is more efficient and productive than name-calling.
But no-one is likely to convince me that a bunch of people who get off a bus
at Lee's, climbs onto a J-rig and gets chauffered down the river to Whitmore
Wash, then helicoptered out, is having the same experience as - hey, I'm a
snob, I admit it, I can't help it, so sue me - a bunch of people in oar-boats
or kayaks or what have you, who do it themselves from start to finish.
All of which misses the point, since the commercial customers seem to be
enjoying themselves too.... Well, Jazzer, didn't mean to ruffle your
feathers. See you on the river.
