Dave,

Advertising is a problem because, the purpose of advertising is to create
demand. Artifically created demand does not reflect the true demand for
canyon opportunities. Sure it is demand, but it is demand that had to be
created, stimulated, encouraged. No one advertises the private trip
opportunity. Not even the NPS. No where on bulletin boards in the canyon
does it tell you how to get a private permit, but there is plenty of info
on commercial activities. Therefore, people who sign up for a private are
sort of a "organic, homegrown type of demandor"

If there was not a massive publicity machine, including even ads on
airliners "Come on along. we're having fun." etc. then, perhaps we could
find out what the real demand for commercial trips are.

All real American's understand adverising.
